Men’s Health Week is an annual event organised by the Men’s Health Forum. It aims to shine a light on avoidable health problems that disproportionately affect men, and promote strategies for better physical and mental wellbeing. Mental Health Week encourages men of all ages to prioritise their health, seek preventive care and engage in conversations about important health issues.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, approximately 1 in 8 men have a common mental health problem such as anxiety, depression, panic disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). And this is only the cases that are reported. Without the right help and support, these problems can get worse.

Men's Network

Our Men’s Network was set up to offer men across the University a safe space to discuss any concerns they have around physical health, mental health and general wellbeing. It provides an opportunity to form meaningful connections and build mutual support between men across the University.

Since it was established in 2022, group activities have included several free health MOTs, a talk from an NHS prostate specialist, yoga and movement sessions, sparring, walks and social get-togethers.

If you’d like to join the Network, you can sign up to our Teams site.

If you would like more information about the group and the resources we offer, please get in touch with Simon Brown.
