What is UKAT?
UKAT, the United Kingdom Advising and Tutoring association, is a collection of multidisciplinary academic and support professionals interested in advancing the practice of student advising and personal tutoring in Higher Education in the UK. They advance the field through conferences, symposia, workshops, support for original research, peer-reviewed academic publications, accreditation of practice, professional courses, and resources. UKAT is dedicated to transforming tutorial and advisory practices so that every higher education student can experience inclusiveness, well-being and personal growth.
What are the benefits of joining?
Being a member of UKAT enables the University to benefit from a wide variety of networking opportunities, and to collaborate and share practices that support student success with expert tutors and advisors across the sector.
All staff at the University of Bath can register for free as Affiliate Members, giving direct access to training and UKAT members' resources, and enabling participation in UKAT Special Interest Groups such as; Early Career Researcher Network, Equity and Inclusion, International Students, Personal Tutor Training Network, Postgraduate Students, Senior Tutor Network, Student Engagement, and Technology in Advising
Our membership means we benefit from UKAT's strong partnerships with colleagues from the USA, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, and Sweden and from partner organisations including NACADA, LVSA and OneHE.
Who should join?
We recommend all staff who provide advice and guidance to students to join UKAT. This includes; Personal and Senior Tutors, Doctoral Supervisors, professional support service staff, Directors of Studies, and Heads of Department.
