Campus Services is pleased to announce the launch of Warp (Waste Action Reuse Portal) It, a new online platform for reusing University equipment, furniture and more.

Warp It replaces the existing University Swap Shop and is currently for staff use only.

It makes it easy to pass on unwanted items or claim what others no longer need. By choosing reuse first, staff can directly cut waste, save money and free up valuable space across our campus.

Warp it helps the University by:

  • Saving money - reducing waste disposal and purchasing costs
  • Reducing waste - finding new owners for surplus equipment at the University, reducing the number of items being thrown away
  • Saving space - clear out unused items to free up rooms, cupboards and storage areas
  • Tracking - clear reporting of the amount of waste avoided, CO2 and money saved

Examples of items that can be given away or found on Warp It include:

  • Office furniture, e.g. desks and chairs
  • Storage units
  • Stationery
  • Soft furnishings
  • Meeting room furniture

The University is committed to driving meaningful sustainability action, and purchasing alone accounts for around half of our total carbon footprint. Reducing what we buy and making better use of what we already have is one of the most powerful and impactful steps we can take. Warp It provides every member of staff a simple way to contribute to this change.

We encourage all staff to follow the University’s Buy Less, Buy Better principles and check Warp It first to see what can be repurposed. Additional guidance is available in the University’s Sustainable Procurement Policy.
