The University of Bath Psychology Clinic is now open, offering free specialist mental health and wellbeing services to University of Bath students.
Operated by qualified clinical and health psychologists and cognitive behavioural therapists (CBT therapists), it provides evidence-based psychological interventions and therapies.
All services are delivered by lecturers and researchers from within the Department of Psychology, who are specialists in their fields. They provide support for concerns such as:
- anxiety
- depression
- eating disorders
- physical health-related difficulties
- adjusting to difficult life changes
- sleep problems
- anxiety related to traumatic experiences
The clinic also offers adapted interventions to support autistic students.
This new initiative complements the University’s existing Student Support services, expanding the range of options available to people studying at Bath.
Located in 10 West on the University of Bath campus, the clinic provides a welcoming, confidential space for students to access psychological care.
Dr Jasmin Langon-Daly — Senior Lecturer, Clinical Psychologist, and project lead for the clinic — said:
I’m really proud that we’ve been able to start this specialist service. Our staff have extensive clinical experience and skills, and this provides an opportunity to use these to support members of the student community who are having difficulties with their mental and physical health.
With the support of the Department and Faculty leadership, we have been able to create an innovative model for a clinic within an academic department. We’re currently only a small service, but we have plans for expansion in the future to support clinical research and placements for psychological professional training.
