Westwood Nursery, based on campus, was inspected by Ofsted in June and achieved an outstanding rating across all areas of the assessment.
The nursery accommodates 48 children aged between six months and school age, and is an essential part of the University’s commitment to provide a family friendly workplace.
The nursery team were praised for ‘effective leadership’ and ‘dynamic teaching’. It was noted that the nursery staff are ‘exceptionally responsive to children's feelings, interests and changing needs.’ And the children ‘thrive on the respect, attention and care they receive’.
Professor Phil Taylor, Vice Chancellor said:
I know from colleagues how much the Westwood Nursery is valued, particularly the care they take with the children in their charge. That they have now had this reconfirmed, once again through an OFSTED inspection is a wonderful achievement against some really demanding criteria. I would like to pass on my thanks to all the Nursery team who provide this care, and for supporting the University so well. The commendation by OFSTED just reconfirms what we all knew, that you provide a first class service which is valued by so many.
