The recent death of former University Accountant Ian Trickett BA FCA has been announced. Ian died peacefully, aged 82, at his home in Combe Down on October 31.

Ian was appointed as University Accountant in 1973; from 1993 he became Deputy Secretary and from 1994, his final role as Director of Support Services, from which he retired in January 1997.

Former Head of University Administration Professor Richard Mawditt writes: ‘In his role of University Accountant Ian was a man of steel - well he would be, coming from family in the Sheffield steel industry and graduating from the University of Sheffield - whose care and attention to detail of the University’s financial affairs ensured that little passed him by without the tightest of scrutiny. Ian was held in the highest regard for his integrity and advice by his administrative colleagues and those Heads of Schools he had to deal with.’

Ian’s Funeral Service will be held at Ascension Church, Bath on Friday 29 November at 1.30pm.
