The University of Bath will host young leaders, changemakers and experts in health, technology and education at the One Young World Bath forum on Saturday 21 March.

Marking 10 years of partnership between the University and One Young World, the global community of 20,000 young leaders based in 196 countries, the forum will culminate in the award of an honorary degree to Kate Robertson, Co-Founder and CEO of One Young World.

The student-led event will feature inspiring talks and workshops on the themes of Responsible Technology, Health Inequality and Educational Empowerment.

The partnership, the longest running between the organisation and a UK university, has been running since 2013 and has enabled annual student delegations to attend the global One Young World Summit, while building a lasting leadership network on campus. The purpose of One Young World is to identify, connect and elevate the next generation of global young leaders from all sectors.

The annual Bath forum events are a platform for learnings from the global Summit to be shared with Bath students and the wider community.

Kate Robertson, Co-founder and CEO of One Young World, said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this degree from the University of Bath. This recognition is especially meaningful because Bath graduates and students are such an integral part of the One Young World community.

“Over many years, I have watched Bath delegates demonstrate courage, creativity, and a genuine determination to tackle global challenges - qualities that sit at the very heart of One Young World’s mission.

“The University’s commitment to nurturing responsible, values-driven leaders continues to inspire all of us at One Young World. I look forward to welcoming many more Bath students and alumni into the One Young World network, and to seeing them in Cape Town later this year as we work together to drive measurable impact on the world’s most pressing challenges.”

Professor Julian Chaudhuri, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the University of Bath, said: “One Young World makes a genuine difference around the world, building a lasting infrastructure centred on empowering young people as impactful leaders.

“We are delighted to be one of its longest-standing university partners and to be able to recognise Kate Robertson’s incredible efforts in creating this movement with a thoroughly well-deserved honorary degree.”

He added: “Attending the 2025 One Young World Summit in Munich with our student delegates was both exciting and a moving experience. One Young World proves that when you move beyond inspiring young people and give them tools that really enable them to lead, they achieve amazing things.”

Organised by this year’s student delegates to One Young World, Ellie Burns, Eleanor Timberlake, Kaash Cowie and Khushi Sikand, the special event will bring together current students, previous delegates, alumni and the University’s senior management team and guests.
