At this time of year, approaching and leaving campus at peak times is often in darkness and can be in poor weather.

When visibility is reduced, safety and respect for one another is even more important.

If you overtake someone who is on a bicycle, please ensure you follow the Highway Code and give them at least 1.5 metre space, about a car door width, as promoted by BANES Council.

If you are cycling on campus, please remember that all the paths are shared so give others plenty of room, especially when they are older or younger members of our community.

If you choose to run to or on campus please remember to wear high visibility or reflective clothing – be bright, be seen.

Thank you,

Chris Young, Deputy Director Safety & Wellbeing Services
