Most recently, Weigang was the Senior Interpreter and Head of the Chinese Unit in the Interpretation Section of the UN Office in Nairobi, Kenya. He has also worked as an editor, translator and revisor, as well as an interpreter for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Steven Wonnacott, Director of Studies for the MA Interpreting and Translating and MA in Translation with Business Interpreting courses, said:

I am delighted to welcome Weigang to the University of Bath as part of our brilliant team of course directors. His energy, enthusiasm and extensive professional experience will be invaluable assets to the MA Interpreting and Translating (Chinese) and Translation with Business Interpreting programmes as we build on their existing success and reputation.

Weigang will mainly be teaching consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, and liaison interpreting on the Chinese stream of our prestigious MA in Interpreting and Translation and MA in Translation with Business Interpreting courses.

Weigang’s appointment is a welcome addition to the experienced team of interpreters and translators teaching on the courses. We hope this will help us to continue to build on the University’s strong links with international institutions, including the various duty stations and specialist agencies of the United Nations family.
