Dr Sheree Bekker, Prize Fellow in the Department for Health, has won the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) PhD Academy Awards Editor's Pick.

The awards celebrate the contributions that recently graduated PhD candidates make to enhancing the knowledge of sports medicine and science, and have been running since 2016.

Dr Bekker’s paper How key intermediary organisations ‘bridge the gap’ between injury prevention research and practice: novel insights was published in the BJSM, and winning the award means she will now be presenting at the Football Medicine Conference, Lyon 2020.

Dr Bekker said of the win:

I am absolutely delighted and honoured to receive this award. The BJSM PhD Academy Awards have very quickly become a prestigious award within my field, buoyed the high standard of nominees and previous winners, so this recognition means a lot to me both personally and professionally.
