Dear colleagues,
Our in-person undergraduate Open Days, held this past weekend, have been some of our most challenging yet. Demand from future students, their families and guests continues to grow, which is fantastic but sees us fully booked earlier each year, and every year seems to bring a new logistical or transport challenge.
Of course, these events are absolutely critical to the success of our University. Attracting talented students with real potential, by showing Bath at its best, is vital for our future.
That’s why we are so grateful to everyone involved in making the Open Days such a success. Student experience starts with first impressions – and I think we did ourselves proud.
The event days were extremely busy with more than 22,000 visitors estimated in total. Campus looked great – even under Friday’s grey skies, but especially in the sunshine on Saturday – and the talks, tours and information fair were very busy and abuzz with conversation.
Whether you were preparing the campus in the early hours, giving a talk, leading a tour, staffing a stand in the Information Fair, managing queues or welcoming and helping visitors to campus, I would like to thank you for all you have done. Your help and support are sincerely appreciated and the way people showed up exemplifies the fantastic community we have at Bath.
A great deal of work is involved in planning and ensuring these events run smoothly and I am grateful to colleagues in Campus Services, Campus Infrastructure, Facilities Services, ResLife, Security, Hospitality, Retail, staff volunteers and our many student ambassadors - it really is a team effort.
I also wanted to thank in particular Lucy Perry, Events Manager, and the events and marketing team who co-ordinate these days so well. This year has thrown up more challenges than usual, and the team has helped us navigate these whilst still remaining calm and focussed. Thank you!
If you have any feedback about the Open Days, we would be really pleased to hear from you, please email Lucy Perry on lvp27@bath.ac.uk.
With thanks and best wishes,
Cassie
