Today (1 August 2025) we’ve published our new Harassment and sexual misconduct webpages that act as a one-stop shop for guidance for students about reporting an incident, ongoing support, and disciplinary procedures, as well as the University's policies for students and staff.
The launch of these webpages forms part of the work the university has been undertaking over the past year to ensure compliance with the Office for Students’ (OfS) new condition of registration, which requires all higher education institutions to take robust, proactive steps to prevent and respond to harassment and sexual misconduct towards students.
As well as creating the webpages that act as a single comprehensive source of information for our community, we have also revised our existing #NeverOK training for staff and students to help you understand your responsibilities under Condition E6 and how to respond to incidents or concerns. The new modules go live from 4 August 2025.
Lastly, we have updated our Personal and Professional Relationships policy. From 1 August 2025, the University will prohibit staff from entering into intimate personal relationships with students over whom they have teaching, research, pastoral, wellbeing or other professional responsibilities. Hopefully, you should have received an email and read the staff and student announcements regarding this specific change and the actions you may need to take.
Please visit the new webpages and familiarise yourself with all the information.
If you have questions about any of the changes that have come into effect from 1 August 2025, please contact your HR Business Partner or Peter Eley, Deputy Director (HR Services) or Student Support for general guidance.
