The University has marked Transgender Awareness Week by lighting the Library up with the colours of the Trans pride flag.
Every year this commemorative week helps to increase understanding about transgender people and the issues members of the community face. Our LGBTQ+ Institutional Lead Dr Catherine Butler highlights:
More than ever, following the legal and government actions this year, it is vital that the University shows its support for the members of our community who identify as transgender. Some popular media narratives can be disrespectful and harmful to trans people, so it is more important now than ever to show we care and stand together in solidarity.
