Following a staff and student consultation, and Senate approval in June 2025, the University has replaced the term 'BAME' as a broad umbrella term with the use of specific (or expanded) ethnic group categorisations, wherever possible.

All staff are advised to read the full guidance and ensure that this approach is followed.

This change supports more accurate, respectful and inclusive language across our community.
