The University of Bath recently hosted the launch of Reclaim the Throne of Your Heart, a new English translation by Dr Yukteshwar Kumar, Senior Academic in the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies (PoLIS). Published by a US publishing house, the book represents a significant contribution to cross-cultural literary exchange and translation studies.
The launch event, held on campus, was attended by distinguished guests including the acclaimed Chinese author Xue Mo and members of his team, who were present in person and shared valuable insights into the work. The event was honoured by the presence of Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Cassie Wilson, Head of Department Professor Peter Lambert, and senior faculty member Dr Steve Wharton, reflecting strong institutional support for this scholarly achievement.
The book has also been presented at the University of Bristol and SOAS University of London as part of a wider series of academic and literary engagements. These events attracted considerable interest from students, academics, and the wider community, underlining the importance of global literature and intercultural dialogue.
Speaking at the event, Dr Kumar highlighted the challenges and rewards of translation, noting his aim to preserve the philosophical depth and emotional richness of the original text while making it accessible to English-speaking readers.
The University’s senior leadership recognised the publication as an important milestone that enhances the University of Bath’s international profile and commitment to cultural exchange.
