The University of Bath has opened its first Futures Innovation Hub at the Bristol & Bath Science Park, creating a new collaborative space where businesses, researchers and innovators can work together to accelerate the development of low-carbon energy systems.
Launching the Hub at the inaugural GW-SHIFT and UK-HyRES Hydrogen Industry Forum, the University's Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Phil Taylor said:
We're opening our Futures Innovation Hub to businesses, researchers and innovators from across the energy sector as a place to connect, collaborate and innovate. Together, we can solve shared challenges, create new opportunities and accelerate the transition to cleaner, more resilient energy systems.
The Futures Innovation Hub has been created to bring together expertise from across industry, academia and the wider innovation community working in energy systems, hydrogen, clean propulsion and low-carbon technologies. It will provide opportunities for organisations to connect, build partnerships and accelerate innovation through networking and shared activities.
IAAPS – the University of Bath's world-leading centre supporting industry in the development and adoption of clean, efficient, zero-carbon propulsion technologies – is collocated in the Hub and offers the opportunity to become part of one of the UK's most significant clean energy innovation ecosystems.
Through the Hub, members will be able to collaborate on research and innovation, attend events and workshops, build new partnerships and access the expertise and facilities available across Bristol & Bath Science Park.
Describing the ambition for the Hub, Professor Taylor said it will help "supercharge the energy systems ecosystem here and beyond", providing a space for co-location and helping to turn new ideas into real-world impact.
A hub for collaboration
The Futures Innovation Hub is open to organisations and individuals working across energy systems, hydrogen, clean propulsion and low-carbon technologies.
Members will become part of an ecosystem that includes IAAPS, GW-SHIFT and UK-HyRES, alongside the wider innovation community at the Bristol & Bath Science Park.
