The University of Bath is pleased to announce the signing of a new agreement with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (or Amrita University), India.

Amrita is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary, research-intensive, private university, educating over 30,000 students. The university offers more than 300 undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes across various disciplines, including Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Management. Ranked 7th nationally by the Indian Ministry of Education, Amrita has emerged as India’s highest-ranked university in terms of SDG impact in the most recent Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, evidencing a deep commitment to fostering a sustainable and inclusive future.

Under the agreement students from Amrita will complete a master’s programme at Amrita before progressing to study a master's in biotechnology at Bath’s Faculty of Science.

This collaboration aims to encourage joint research initiatives and promote academic exchange between Amrita and Bath through the activities of the participating students and their advisors, benefiting both students and the faculty.

On signing the agreement, Professor Duncan Craig, Dean of the Faculty of Science, commented:

We are very excited to be developing this relationship with Amrita University. Our educational values and institutional goals, particularly in terms of supporting the next generation of leaders and decision makers to fulfil their potential, are very much aligned. Both institutions are keen to develop their international portfolio, and this relationship will be not just of mutual benefit to the two universities, but to our students and the broader community.
