The University of Bath will host a screening of the latest National Emergency Briefing film on the climate and nature crisis next week, alongside a discussion with Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh MBE, one of the film’s advisors.

Director of the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST), Professor Whitmarsh is a leading voice in environmental psychology and provided expert input into the film, which sets out the climate risks facing the nation – and the credible, positive responses available – in a clear and accessible manner.

The film features Chris Packham, leading scientists, a former general, and other prominent figures in an accessible, compelling format designed to inform, engage, and inspire action.

Prof Whitmarsh said: “'I'm delighted to be helping host the People's Emergency Briefing film at the university. The film brings together evidence on the climate and nature crisis and what it means for the UK and is designed to be watched together in communities and workplaces, creating space for honest conversation and constructive civic engagement.

“At the University of Bath, our role has been to help evaluate the campaign – to see what people think about the film, and what impact it has. This is helping build the evidence base on how to better communicate climate risks and to encourage public action."

A facilitated discussion to help viewers process and engage positively with solutions in their local community will follow the screening.

The event is being organised by CAST, the Centre for 21st Century Public Health, the Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change and the Bath Sustainability Team.

You can register for a ticket to the screening event on Eventbrite.
