The International Student Recruitment Team and International Relations Office jointly hosted the first welcome event for postgraduate taught scholarship and sponsored students on 1 October 2025.
The event welcomed and celebrated new fully funded scholarship and sponsored students from a range of nationalities, allowing them to meet each other and build networks across the University’s community. The scholars also had the opportunity to learn more about the international student support service available to them and meet with staff members.
Professor Cassie Wilson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience and Sport), who welcomed all students, said:
We’re absolutely delighted that so many postgraduate scholarship and sponsored students have chosen to join the University of Bath. Each of them has earned their place here through hard work, determination, and the support of their sponsors and scholarship programmes. We’re delighted to host such a talented and diverse group of students. Scholars like these from all over the world, reflect the global nature of our University.
Mays Maraqa one of our HESPAL Scholars (Higher Education Scholarships for Palestinians) commented:
I really enjoyed attending the event. It was such a lovely experience! It was great getting to know everyone and feeling the positive and supportive atmosphere. The interactions were warm and genuine, and it truly felt like everyone was celebrating each other’s successes. I left feeling happy, inspired and grateful to be part of this community.
The University of Bath would like to acknowledge and thank the sponsors and scholarship organisations for their continued partnership and investment in our students’ futures whose support reflects a shared belief that education can drive positive change: Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, Chevening, British Council, CMA CGM, Marshall Scholarships as well as the many international government and employer sponsors.
