If you have a food or drink allergy, make sure you follow the correct steps when eating in our food outlets on campus.

You can:

  • Ask any member of staff working in the outlets for our red allergy folder. This provides you with:

    • detailed information about allergens
    • the type of nuts used
    • the source of gluten used
  • Speak to a member of staff wearing a blue allergy badge, who has completed specific allergen training and can help you with any queries

  • Read the ingredient labels on any of our pre-packaged items

If you have an allergy that is not in the list of 14, make sure you speak to a member of staff wearing a blue allergy badge.

We still use the term 'non-gluten containing ingredients' (NGCI) in our food outlets instead of 'gluten free'.

This is due to food law, as 'gluten free' can only be used for food and drink guaranteed to contain 20mg/kg or 20ppm gluten or less.

Once our food or drink is removed from factory packaging, we can no longer guarantee this, as our kitchen staff handle gluten-containing ingredients every day.
