How to join as a member of staff

We study biological systems using quantitative techniques and mathematical modelling tools.

Take a look through the research interests of the current members of the Centre to see how you'll fit in.

Apply to the PhD programme at the Centre for Mathematical Biology

As a PhD student, you’ll find yourself in an academically stimulating, research-intensive environment helping you to reach your full potential.

You'll be working directly with academics and their research groups operating at the cutting-edge of their discipline. You'll quickly become an expert yourself and learn how to become an independent researcher, capable of designing and carrying out your own research.

We welcome applications from self-funded candidates year-round and encourage you to contact potential supervisors directly about available projects. Funded positions may be advertised on this page or on FindAPhD, though opportunities are not always listed while funding is being finalised, so please feel free to get in touch.

Alternatively, you can apply via the SAMBa programme.

Postdoctoral opportunities

Discover fellowship and funding schemes that may be suitable for researchers aiming to join the CMB. This list is not exhaustive - we encourage you to explore others and speak with potential CMB hosts about the best fit for your research and career stage.

If you are interested in undertaking a postdoctoral period of research within the CMB, please get in touch. Possible funding schemes include:

We have had success with many of these schemes in the past, especially where candidates work with a CMB host to develop compelling, interdisciplinary proposals. However, this list is by no means complete. Contact us if you’d like help identifying funding opportunities or preparing an application to be hosted at CMB.
