Study with our C3Bio Doctoral Training Initiative: Grand Challenges in Health Technologies

We're looking for PhD students to join our DTI addressing grand challenges in health technologies. Find out about the areas we cover and current opportunities.

Why apply for our doctoral initiative?

Have the opportunity to research in a multidisciplinary environment, working closely within a cohort of PhD students.

Our new Doctoral Training Initiative is a set of interlinked PhD projects from different disciplines based around a single grand challenge in health technologies. Our projects focus on end-user engagement in health technologies. This means you’ll be working on challenging research which has the potential for real-life impact.

You’ll draw on the expertise of our Centre for Biosensors, Bioelectronics and Biodevices (C3Bio), which brings together over 95 researchers from engineering, physical, life and social sciences.

Current PhD vacancies

You can find our projects advertised on findaphd and jobs.ac.uk under the search term 'C3Bio'.

Our PhD projects are grouped under three grand challenges in healthcare technologies. Each area has a cohort of students every year. Our grand challenges are:

  • disease diagnostics for low-resource settings
  • technologies for personalised management of non-communicable diseases
  • technologies to improve water quality for better human health

If you have funding from a third party then you should talk to your supervisor about how your project can be aligned with our doctoral training initiative.

If you don't have a supervisor yet, contact us and we'll link you with the most appropriate person to supervise your project.
