The University spends more than £100,000 every year maintaining and repairing lifts. Lifts can be out of action due to:
- scheduled maintenance
- mechanical failure
- misuse, including overloading and repetitive pressing of buttons
- vandalism
Lifts in academic buildings
The Chancellors’ Building
There are four passenger lifts between levels 1 and 5.
The Library
There is:
- one passenger lift between levels 1 and 5
- one staff lift between levels 1 and 5 - contact Security on 01225 385349 to use the staff lift
The Edge
There is one passenger lift between levels 0 and 3.
East Building
There is one goods lift with a single door between levels 2 and 4.
2 East
There is one passenger lift between levels 1 and 4.
3 East
There is one passenger lift between levels 2 and 4.
4 East
There is one passenger lift between levels 1 and 3.
4 East South
There are two passenger lifts between levels 1 and 5.
6 East
There is:
- one passenger lift between levels 1 and 4
- one external disabled lift between levels 1 and 2, controlled by CCTV and intercom
8 East
There is one passenger lift between levels 2 and 4.
1 South
There is:
- one passenger lift between levels 0 and 1
- one goods lift between levels 0 and 1
2 South
There is:
- one disabled passenger lift between levels 0 and 1
- one external platform lift - contact Security on 01225 385349 to use this lift
3 South
There is one passenger lift between levels 0 and 1.
4 South
There is one passenger lift between levels 0 and 1.
Sports Training Village
There are two passenger lifts between levels 1 and 2.
1 West
There is:
- one passenger lift at the west end of the building, near 3 West, between levels 1 and 4
- one passenger lift at the east end of the building, near the Library, between levels 2 and 5
2 West
There is:
- one external passenger and goods lift between levels 1 and 4
- one external passenger lift between levels 1 and 3
University Hall, Parade Bar and the Claverton Rooms
There is one catering-staff passenger lift between levels 1 and 2, giving access to the Fountain Café kitchen.
3 West
There is one passenger lift between levels 1 and 5.
3 West North
There is one passenger lift between levels 2 and 3.
4 West
There are two passenger lifts between levels 1 and 5.
5 West
There is one passenger and goods lift between levels 1 and 3.
5 West Annex (Glaxo)
There is one goods lift between levels 2 and 3. This is for service goods only.
7 West
There is one passenger lift between levels 1 and 4.
8 West
There is:
- one passenger lift between levels 1 and 4
- one goods lift between levels 1 and 2 for the Print Unit (access hatch)
9 West
There is one passenger and goods lift between levels 1 and 4.
10 West
There is:
- one passenger lift between north levels 0 and 5
- one passenger lift between south levels 0 and 5 (0, mezzanine, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Wessex House
There is:
- one passenger lift between north levels 2 and 9
- one passenger lft between south levels 2 and 9
- one goods lift between levels 1 and 2 (open access) for the Fresh shop
If you have a disability, you can reach level 1 on the north side using a key fob.
You can reach level 1 on the south side using your staff library card if you work in Wessex House.
Accommodation buildings
Marlborough and Solsbury Court
There is one passenger lift between levels 1 and 4 in each block.
Norwood House
There is:
- one passenger lift between north levels 1 and 9
- one passenger lift between south levels 1 and 9
Use your student card or contact Security on 01225 385349 to reach the student accommodation areas on levels 4 to 9.
There is:
- one goods lift between north levels 1 and 2 - you need a key to use this lift
- one external scissor lift for bar use only
- one goods lift between south levels 1 and 3 for Fresh Express deliveries only - you need a key to use this lift
The Quads
There is one passenger lift between levels 1 and 5 in each block.
Woodland Court
There is one passenger lift between levels 1 and 5 in blocks B and C.
