The first issue of Private Eye was published on 25 October 1961. Covering news and current affairs, the fortnightly magazine describes itself as a combination of ‘humour, political and social observations and investigative journalism’.
The collection comprises issues of Private Eye covering the period from 1975 to 2018, with a few earlier issues from 1973 and 1974. The magazines are available in hardcopy format for consultation in the Archives & Research Collections Reading Room.
The collection was donated to the Library, via the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies (PoLIS), by an alumnus of the University in 2018.
