Tuition fees for undergraduate students starting in 2026

The tuition fees you must pay if you are starting an undergraduate course in the 2026/27 academic year. There are separate fees for placement years.

Factsheet

Understanding your tuition fees

You pay tuition fees at the beginning of each year. The fee rates depend on your fee status, not your mode of study. If you are an EU national starting in September 2026 your fee status may be Home or Overseas, depending on your circumstances.

Tuition fees are liable to increase annually for all University of Bath students.

You should also budget for extra costs in addition to your tuition fees.

Fees for Home students

If you have Home fee status the University is limited by the maximum fee permitted by the UK government. The fee for the current year is set at the maximum permitted level, and you should expect the University to increase the fee each year in line with the maximum permitted value set by the government for that year - the tuition fees will not increase in any academic year by more than 8% from the previous academic year's tuition fees.

The undergraduate regulated fees for Home students in the 2026/27 academic year are subject to parliamentary approval.

If you aren't paying your fees in British pounds, you should also budget for possible fluctuations in your own currency.

Tuition fees

Course Annual fee
Full-time campus-based courses including Foundation Sport (Sports Performance) To be confirmed by UK government
Full-time campus-based Honours year (top up from Foundation degree) To be confirmed by UK government
MArch Architecture Year 1 To be confirmed by UK government
MArch Architecture Year 2 To be confirmed by UK government

Placement fees and study abroad fees

You will normally pay a reduced tuition fee instead of the full year fee while on a placement period or studying abroad.

Thick sandwich placements

A thick sandwich placement means you are away from the University working or studying for at least one continuous academic year.

Type of placement Annual fee
All UK and international work placements (paid or unpaid) To be confirmed by UK government
All overseas study exchanges (10 weeks or more) To be confirmed by UK government
International work placements, in receipt of Turing Scheme funding To be confirmed by UK government

For overseas study exchanges, if the study period is less than 10 weeks (with the remaining time being spent on placement), the year counts as work.

For international work placements, the outcome of applications for Turing funding will not normally be confirmed until after the start of the placement year. Therefore, all students on international work placements will initially be charged the higher amount. If successful, applicants will receive a partial rebate once their Turing status is known.

Thin sandwich placements

A thin sandwich placement year includes one semester of placement or study abroad and the other semester as on-campus study at Bath.

BSc Business (Years 2 and 3) and BSc Architecture (Years 2 and 3) are the only courses which have thin sandwich placements.

Placement year Annual fee
Placement Year 1 To be confirmed by UK government
Placement Year 2 - UK and international work placements (paid or unpaid) To be confirmed by UK government
Placement Year 2 - All overseas study exchanges (10 weeks or more) To be confirmed by UK government
Placement Year 2 - International work placements, in receipt of Turing Scheme funding To be confirmed by UK government

Fees for overseas students

You should budget for an increase of up to 8% for every year of your course.

If you aren't paying your fees in British Pounds, you should also budget for possible fluctuations in your own currency.
