Dissertation or consultancy project
The course culminates with either a traditional dissertation or a consultancy project.
The consultancy project is a practical alternative to a dissertation. You’ll work on a project with an external organisation, helping them to address a real-world business challenge. You’ll conduct appropriate research and data analysis (if necessary), before presenting your findings as a written report and presentation.
Consultancy project numbers are limited each year. You’ll apply for a suitable project with one of our external partners and will receive support from us during this process. If a suitable project can’t be secured, you will complete a dissertation instead.
Some of our recent economics master's students have completed their projects with:
- Currie & Brown
- Emerging Markets Investment Management
- Fathom Consulting
- Oxquant
"Oxquant has collaborated successfully on industry projects with the University of Bath for nearly five years, on project topics such as private equity performance measurement, healthtech and biodiversity compliance. We continue to be impressed with the quality of the University’s students in terms of academic training and commercial awareness." — Dr Richard Saldanha, Oxquant, Founder/Co-Head
