Civil engineering
Undergraduate courses starting in 2024
Civil, structural and architectural engineers design and shape the built environment, using creativity to improve the world we live in for a sustainable future.
We rely on civil, structural and architectural engineers to design and build the world around us. Every building, road, bridge, harbour, airport and energy facility depends on their creativity, imagination and skills.
At Bath, we want to nurture your potential to imagine new ways of doing things to make a positive impact. We’ll give you the skills to deliver sustainable, practical and beautiful engineering solutions that help people everywhere to live happy, healthy and productive lives. As well as studying maths and engineering science, at times during your degree you'll work in teams with architecture students tutored by professional architects and engineers. This helps you learn the collaborative skills professionals need for a successful career.
Shape your degree experience
You can move between our BEng and MEng courses, as well as decide whether you want to go on placement, up to the end of your second year. Our MEng degrees give you an in-depth study experience through advanced taught units and project work. They also fulfil the educational requirements you need to become a Chartered Engineer. By choosing to take a placement year, you’ll get to put your theory into practice and earn a wage while you work alongside professional engineers.
