About the workshop

This session will provide attendees with a guide to creating content for social media. During the course of the workshop, it will explore how to produce a variety of content formats, such as blogs, graphics and vlogs, in order to help promote research.

This hands-on session will offer the opportunity for attendees to create their own vlogs using their smartphones and will discuss tips, tricks and tools to create professional clips for social media. It will discuss how attendees can write engaging blog posts for a variety of audiences and will share a guide to copywriting for a web audience. The session will also cover how attendees could use audio – podcasts and audio-streaming sites – to promote their work.

The session will explore how attendees can create content as part of their daily activities and will investigate how to create content to promote talks, workshops and public engagement events.

Learning outcomes

As a result of attending this workshop, attendees will:

  • be able to create a variety of content formats, including blogs, graphics and videos
  • understand how to create content to support key events and activity
  • generate content ‘on-the-go’ and tips to develop quick and easy content for social media
