Ideally, aimed at second through to final year doctoral students. A similar course was previously called 'Writing for publication'.

About the workshop

Writing a research paper is often called the ‘gold standard’ of academic publishing. And the better the quality of your paper, the greater its contribution to building your career and creating impact in the wider world. But starting to write research papers early in your academic career can seem like a formidable challenge. This workshop aims to make that process easier.

Reporting your research as a publishable paper involves ‘packaging’ your research in a form that is enticing to publishers, reviewers and ultimately, to your target readers. This workshop considers how to do that. It will offer tools and techniques to help you plan and carry out the writing of a paper. The workshop will also help demystify publishing and peer review processes with the overall intent of increasing your chances of being published successfully.

The course is run by Dr Trevor Day, a professional writer, trainer and writing coach. Trevor has helped hundreds of university students and staff to write more effectively.
