Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme
The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme (CSS) is a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) and the University, to provide scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries.
Eligibility and how to apply
If you are considering applying for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship on one of the following courses for the 2026-27 academic year:
- MSc Biotechnology (Sustainable Biotechnologies)
- MSc Biotechnology (with Entrepreneurship)
- MSc Robotics and Autonomous Systems
- MSc Sustainable Energy Engineering
You must:
- Be from an eligible Commonwealth country
- Apply using the CSC’s online application system AND
- Secure admission to your chosen course by applying to study with us. You must apply for one of the eligible courses above by the 9 December 2025
If you are considering applying for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship on either of the following courses for the 2026-27 academic year:
- MSc International Development, Conflict and Humanitarian Action
- MSc International Development with Education
You must:
- Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by Kenya or Uganda and be resident in an eligible area. Please refer to Windle Trust International eligibility criteria for more details

Application deadlines
Applications for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for the academic year 2026-27 are now open.
The deadline to submit applications is Tuesday 9 December 2025 at 16:00 (GMT).
