'These awards are an excellent opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of the University’s Professional Services and Support staff. We look forward to receiving your nomination.' — Richard Brooks, Director of Human Resources
Students and staff can nominate individuals and teams from the University's Professional Services and support staff for awards in the following four categories:
- Enhancing the Student Experience
- Service to the Community and Sustainability
- Manager/Leader of the Year
- Supporting Colleagues
This year we would also like to encourage and recognise collaborative team work and will be including an 'Overall Team Award'. This will be awarded to a team of staff who have made a significant contribution to the overall success of the University during the past year, and demonstrating how they have consistently delivered best practice. Please note, this is not a category and the winning team will be selected from all team nominations received.
Making a nomination
You can make a nomination if you are a student or member of staff, either individually or as a group.
Your nomination should include examples of how your nominated individual, or team, has shown excellence in their work and contributed to the broader life of the University.
Who you can nominate
- any current team or member of staff from a professional or support service
- yourself or your own team
Academic staff are not eligible for these awards as as they are recognised through the annual Teaching Awards. For more information on these awards, please visit the Teaching Awards webpage.
When you can nominate
Nominations for 2023 will open on 19 April 2023 and entries will close at 5pm on 19 May 2023.
How to make a nomination
The easiest way to nominate is online.
You can nominate a member of staff by completing the online form.
Selection and notification of the winners
The selection committee − made up of colleagues from across the University − will meet in June 2023 to review all the nominations and select winners (and if applicable, highly commended) for each category.
All categories may have an individual and team winner (and highly commended where appropriate) with the exception of the Manager/Leader of the Year award where a team nomination cannot be applied to the category.
The selection committee may change the award category of a nomination if deemed more appropriate.
All those who were nominated be informed by letter and their names may be published on the University website. The Heads of Department of everyone who received nominations will also be informed.
Although we are unable to write personally to thank everyone who makes a nomination, please be assured that all nominees and their Head of Department will receive an email informing them that they were nominated, even if they are not selected for an award. The names of award winners, and those of all nominees, will be published on the University website.
When the awards are presented
The Staff Recognition Awards event and awards ceremony will be on on 3 July 2023 2pm to 4pm.
The event will take place in The Edge, and will be a celebratory afternoon with canapes and drinks. Following the event will be the awards ceremony, where the Vice Chancellor will present the winners and highly commended with their awards and certificates.
