Make a nomination for the Staff Recognition Awards

The awards recognise members of the University's professional services or support staff who have demonstrated excellence in their work.

'These awards are an excellent opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of the University’s Professional Services and Support staff. We look forward to receiving your nomination.' — Richard Brooks, Director of Human Resources

Awards categories

Students and staff can nominate individuals and teams from the University's Professional Services and support staff for awards in the following four categories:

  • Manager/Leader of the Year
  • Supporting Colleagues
  • Enhancing the Student Experience
  • Community and Inclusion [NEW] - please consider anyone who is contributing to the University community through collaboration, promoting inclusivity through University events and networks, or promoting green initiatives and environmental best practice.

To ensure we recognise and celebrate achievements which support our strategy in strengthening our vision to be an outstanding and inclusive University, the 'Community and Inclusion' award will be open for all staff, including the E&R job family (contributions should not be based on research or teaching achievements which can be recognised through the Teaching Awards).

'Overall Team Award'

We would also like to encourage and recognise collaborative team work. This will be awarded to a team of staff who have made a significant contribution to the overall success of the University during the past year, and demonstrating how they have consistently delivered best practice. Please note, this is not a category and the winning team will be selected from all team nominations received.

Making a nomination

You can make a nomination if you are a student or member of staff, either individually or as a group.

Your nomination should include examples of how your nominated individual, or team, has shown excellence in their work and contributed to the broader life of the University.

Who you can nominate

  • any current team or member of staff from a professional or support service, including technicians and research assistants
  • yourself or your own team

Academic staff are not eligible for these awards as as they are recognised through the annual Teaching Awards. For more information on these awards, please visit the Teaching Awards webpage.

When you can nominate

Nominations for 2024 will open on 26 February 2024 and entries will close at 5pm on Friday 22 March 2024.

How to make a nomination

Online

The easiest way to nominate is online.

You can nominate a member of staff by completing the online form.

On paper

If you prefer, you can download and print out a nomination form. Please email the form to reward-hr@bath.ac.uk or return it to Wessex House, room 3.20.

Selection and notification of the winners

The selection committee − made up of colleagues from across the University − will meet in June to review all the nominations and select winners (and if applicable, highly commended) for each category.

All categories may have an individual and team winner (and highly commended where appropriate) with the exception of the Manager/Leader of the Year award where a team nomination cannot be applied to the category.

The selection committee may change the award category of a nomination if deemed more appropriate.

All those who were nominated be informed by letter and their names may be published on the University website. The Heads of Department of everyone who received nominations will also be informed.

Although we are unable to write personally to thank everyone who makes a nomination, please be assured that all nominees and their Head of Department will receive an email informing them that they were nominated, even if they are not selected for an award. The names of award winners, and those of all nominees, will be published on the University website.
