Renting a property to students
If you're thinking of renting accommodation to students, there are a few things you'll need to do.
Register as a landlord on Studentpad
Most of our students use Studentpad when looking for private sector housing.
Visit the Studentpad website to register as a landlord with the University of Bath and place adverts for your property.
Your obligations as a landlord
All landlords renting to students must:
- understand your legal responsibilities
- register your property as Gas Safe and provide a copy of this to the Student Accommodation team before you can advertise your property on Studentpad
- understand your legal duties regarding fire safety
- provide an Energy Performance Certificate for properties that are rented as a whole under joint agreements
If you're a landlord of a House in Multiple Occupation
- arrange regular electrical inspections and provide a copy of your most recent inspection results to the Student Accommodation team before you can advertise your property on Studentpad
- hold a Houses in Multiple Occupation licence

- Familiarise yourself with the Student Community Partnership website
