Travelling to campus during COVID-19 restrictions

While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, please think carefully about whether you need to come to campus.

If you do need to come to campus, walk or cycle if you can.

Read the government's guidelines about staying safe while travelling.

Travelling by bus during COVID-19 restrictions

Only take the bus to campus if you can't get here by walking or cycling.

If you have to travel by bus, remember to follow the government's guidelines on social distancing and face coverings in queues and on buses.

You must wear a face covering on all public transport in England.

Bath UniBus

The Bath Unibus service currently includes the U1 and U3 bus routes between Bath and the University campus.

The U2 service isn't operating at the moment but there will be a more frequent 20 route with up to four buses an hour at peak times. FirstBus plans to start running the 20 service before the start of the 2020/21 academic year and will announce the timetable soon.

Check the timetables and route maps for specific locations and term dates.

U1 service

Bath Unibus U1 runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during term time.

From 7am to 7pm, you can catch the bus every few minutes from:

  • Green Park
  • Corn Street
  • Dorchester Street (next to the train station)
  • Grand Parade
  • The Pavilion
  • Bathwick Hill

Out of these hours, U1 extends to Oldfield Park, which means you can also catch the bus from:

  • St James Cemetery
  • Lorne Road
  • Lower Oldfield Park

U3 service

During Monday to Friday term time, 7am to 7pm every few minutes, you can catch the U3 bus to campus from:

  • St James Cemetery
  • Lorne Road
  • Lower Oldfield Park
  • Riverside Road
  • Oak Street
  • Rossiter Road
  • Pulteney Court
  • Pulteney Gardens
  • Bathwick Hill

20 service

FirstBus plans to start running the 20 service before the start of the 2020/21 academic year and will announce the timetable soon.

There will be two routes for this service - a longer one and a shorter one.

The longer route will be a loop including:

  • the University campus
  • the city centre
  • Royal University Hospital (RUH)
  • Twerton
  • Odd Down

The shorter route will operate between:

  • the University campus
  • Twerton
  • Odd Down

Campus bus stops

You can catch all Bath Uni Bus services from the campus bus terminus on Convocation Avenue.

There is also a bus stop at the junction of Norwood Avenue and The Avenue, close to the Sports Training Village.

Discounted tickets

If you're a student or a member of staff with a valid ID, you can can get up to 30% discount on First bus tickets.

Examples of ID that can be used are valid NUS Cards, University ID cards or International Student ID cards. You must show your valid ID on every journey to get your discount.

FirstBus App

You can also buy bus tickets using the FirstBus app. If you are a member of University staff you can still get discounts by going through the student travel section of the app.
