How to apply

If you find a position you’d like to apply for, click the Apply Online button. If you haven’t applied for a position here before, you’ll need to follow the instructions to register and set up an account with us (Why do I have to register?). Please choose an email address you use regularly, so we can easily contact you about your application.

We prefer receiving applications online, but if you are having difficulty submitting your application or require any assistance (for example, if you have a disability) please email jobs@bath.ac.uk. If you are a student applying for work experience, please email workexperience@bath.ac.uk

All applications must be submitted before 00:00 UK time on the closing date.

Application Form

Our application form helps ensure the information you give us is provided in a consistent format, which enables us compare applications fairly. We review all applications anonymously to remove any bias.

As part of the application process, you'll be asked to answer some questions relating to your experience. This is a great opportunity to share examples of any achievements you have which support the criteria in the person specification.

You can complete the form in stages and can login/logout at any time. Your application will automatically save as you enter your information and it’s easy to move backwards and forwards within the form. You’ll be able to review and make changes to your application until you're ready to submit it.

After Applying

Once you’ve submitted your application, the status in My Applications will change to ‘submitted’, alongside the date you applied. We’ll send you an email the next day confirming we’ve received your application.

After Closing Date

We assign a selection panel for each position we advertise. The panel will assess all applications anonymously at the initial shortlisting stage to ensure they are reviewed fairly and free from bias. Applications will be reviewed against the requirements set out in the job description and person specification.

One of our team will contact you to let you know if you’ve been successful in getting through to the next stage.

Discuss your disability

We are very proud to be a Disability Confident leader. As part of our commitment, we offer all applicants the opportunity to be considered under the Guaranteed Interview scheme. By opting-in to this scheme, you are disclosing that you have a disability solely for the purpose of the interview guarantee. You can request this in the Equality of Opportunity section of your application. You can also let us know if you need any adjustments to be made to the interview/selection process.

Ambassadors for Autism

We are an Autism friendly University and our Recruitment Team are Ambassadors for Autism. Please contact us in confidence to find out how we can adapt our process for you.

Reasonable adjustments to our recruitment process

If you would like to discuss any reasonable adjustments we can make to the application process, please get in touch with our recruitment team

Adjustments could include, but are not limited to, availability of job descriptions and application forms in different formats such as large print or braille; correspondence or anything you may need when visiting us for an interview (for example, additional time for those with dyslexia); a job coach to attend and support you, or the provision of assistive technology.

If I am shortlisted for interview, do I have to disclose my disability?

There is no legal obligation for you to disclose that you have a disability (unless there are very specific health and safety risks). However, you may wish to inform a Recruitment Coordinator of your disability so that we can support you and ensure any reasonable adjustments are put in place.

How we'll support you if you're appointed

We  are committed to building disability confidence and supporting staff with disabilities. If you are appointed, we'll work with you to make any necessary reasonable adjustments to how and where you work.

Our campus and city buildings are disability friendly with lifts and ramps for ease of access to wheelchair users. We have multiple disabled parking bays across our car parks which are available to staff.
