About the role

As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll have a key role in helping students transition from living at home to fully independent living and ensuring all our accommodation users have the best possible experience when staying with us.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning accommodation areas
  • Reporting maintenance issues
  • Ensuring health and safety guidance is followed
  • Acting as the face of the department by engaging with students and visitors

This role is for 27.5 hours per week, worked on a shift basis of 9:00am–3:00pm or 10:00am–4:00pm.

The post operates on a 5 days out of 7 rota. As cleaning duties are required in certain areas at weekends, there is an expectation that successful candidates will work weekends on a rota basis. Weekend working is mainly required during the summer peak period.

We are flexible with working hours, and applicants are encouraged to outline any specific availability or working-hour requests on the application form.

About the Department

The University of Bath's Campus Services houses over 5,000 students throughout the academic year, and during the summer months external companies use our accommodation for conferences, summer camps, and away days.

The Campus Services department was created in August 2022 by combining all the facilities teams across the University into one department to support our University strategy, in which strong campus services are essential to underpin excellence in education, research, and the experience of students, staff, visitors, and commercial customers alike.

With over 400 staff, Campus Services consists of a diverse range of teams, including Student Living, Hospitality, Retail, Cleaning and Portering, Security, Postal Services, and Landscaping.

Since last August, we have continued to develop the services we provide in response to the changing needs of the University.

About you

  • enjoy striving for high standards of customer service
  • love working as a team
