Our impact

When you work in the Skills Centre you will make a real difference to student success.

We are reaching more students through digital platforms and resources and now offer a range of flexible, 'blended' options for much of our provision. We continue to broaden the scope of our offer in response to the changing needs of our students.

Student Skills Co-Creators are an integral part of our team, ensuring our learning resources and communications are as useful and engaging as possible to the whole student community.

A specific focus is reducing differences in attainment for key identified groups, including domestic student groups identified in the University’s Access and Participation Plan (APP) and international students.

“My language classes [Mandarin Chinese] at the University of Bath have given me a passion which will last far beyond my time at this university, and have had an impact both on my professional and personal life.” Michal Nalepa, Civil Engineering graduate from Poland.

“In my fourth year, after having a year out for my placement year, I needed to refresh my essay writing skills. I booked a writing tutorial through the Skills Centre. The tutor told me the most common mistakes I made and throughout the rest of the year I’ve picked up on these mistakes more easily. I’ve progressed from a 2:2 in first year to a 1st overall in final year.” Mackyla Palmer-Logue, recent Social Sciences graduate.
