1. Background
These Terms and Conditions set out the terms governing the Skills Centre Freshers’ Facts Challenge Prize Draw (‘the Prize Draw').
The Prize Draw is organised by the Skills Centre at the University of Bath, Claverton Down, BA2 7AY (‘the Promoters’), which are exempt charities as described under the Charities Act 2011 (sched 2, para c).
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully and ensure that you understand them before submitting your entry for the Prize Draw.
Prizes
There is one prize available in the Prize Draw and it is comprised of stationery, sweets, and Skills Centre merchandise.
2. Eligibility
- Unless otherwise stated, the Prize Draw is open to all University of Bath Students
- Entrants must be over the age of 18
- In entering, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. The Promoters may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the prize draw or competition
- Only one entry per person is permitted
3. How to Enter
- To enter the Prize Draw, you must submit your answers via a Microsoft form
- Entries received after the stated closing date of 9pm on 28 September 2025 will not be accepted
- The Prize Draw is free to enter
- The Promoters will not accept responsibility for entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind
- By submitting an entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you have any questions, please contact academic-skills@bath.ac.uk
- The Promoters reserve the right to refuse entry or refuse to award a prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions
3. Winner Selection
- Winners will be drawn at random on 1 October 2025 using a verified random selection tool
- The winners will be notified by email (using details provided at entry) within 7 days of being chosen and must provide an email address to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond to the Promoters within 14 days of being notified, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited, and the Promoters will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above.
- The prizes will be available to collect from Wessex House by the winner within 14 days of responding to the Promoters
- The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. The Promoters reserve the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoters’ control make it necessary to do so
- The decision of the Promoters regarding any aspect of the prize draw or competition is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it
- The winners’ names can be obtained by sending a stamped addressed envelope to the Skills Centre, University of Bath, Claverton Down, BA2 7AY or an email to academic-skills@bath.ac.uk within 60 of days after the date of the closing date of the prize draw
- The Promoters reserve the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so
4. Publicity
4.1 We are required to publish or otherwise make available information which indicates that a valid award has taken place. The surname and county of major prize winners (and, where applicable, copies of winning entries) will be provided are available from the Student Union by:
- writing to the Skills Centre at the University of Bath, Claverton Down, BA2 7AY, enclosing a self-addressed envelope; or
- sending an email to the Skills Centre at academic-skills@bath.ac.uk
- within 14 days after the Closing Date
4.2 If you object to any of your information, as set out above being published or otherwise made available, please contact the Promoters by post at Skills Centre, University of Bath, Claverton Down, BA2 7AY, or by email at academic-skills@bath.ac.uk. Please note that the Promoters are still required to provide such information and winning entries to the Advertising Standards Authority on their request.
5. Limitation of Liability
5.1 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes your legal rights as a consumer. For more information on your rights as a consumer, please contact your local Trading Standards Office or Citizens Advice Bureau.
5.2 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes the Promoters (or that of our agents or distributors, or that of their employees) for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other form of liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
5.3 To the extent permitted by law, and subject to sub-Clauses 6.1 and 6.2, the Promoters (and our agents and distributors) shall not be responsible or liable to compensate any winner and shall not accept any liability for any loss, damage, death, or personal injury, as a result of accepting a prize.
6. Privacy and Personal Data
6.1 The Promoters are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy and will only use your personal information in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and the Promoters’ Privacy Notices (University of Bath Privacy Notice and Microsoft Word - Privacy Policy).
6.2 By entering, you agree that any personal information provided by you with your entry may be held and used by the Promoters to administer the competition.
7. Additional Notes
- The Promoters accept no responsibility for entries that are lost, misdirected, or incomplete due to technical issues
- The Promoters reserve the right to verify entries and to refuse or withdraw any entry at our discretion if the rules are not followed
- By entering, you agree to these terms and give permission for your entry, including name, to be shared by the Promoters and their partners for promotional purposes
- The Promoters reserve the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion if it becomes necessary for us to do so.
- The Promoters reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time and any updated version will be effective as soon as it is published on the University of Bath and/ or the Students’ Union website
9. Law and Jurisdiction
9.1 These Terms and Conditions, the Prize Draw, and the relationship between the Promoters and you (whether contractual or otherwise) shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, English law.
9.2 Any dispute, controversy, proceedings, or claim between the Promoters and you relating to these Terms and Conditions, the Prize Draw, or to the relationship between Promoters and you (whether contractual or otherwise) shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England.
