Professor Momna Hejmadi PhD Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education Quality and Enhancement)

Professor Momna Hejmadi leads on developing our quality and standards policy and inclusive educational practice.


Professor Momna Hejmadi was appointed Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education Quality & Enhancement) for the University of Bath in March 2023. She takes on leadership of Education Quality and Enhancement across the University, focussing on development of our quality and standards policy and inclusive educational practice, including our widening participation and Admissions policy.

Momna Hejmadi is a Professor of Bioscience Education with a background in biomedical research on hypoxia signalling pathways in cancer and neurobiology.

Professor Momna Hejmadi started her postdoctoral research on adjuvant cancer therapy in Belfast, which led to the development and clinical trials of a novel bioreductive drug, AQ4N. Subsequent research in biomolecular sciences at Brookhaven National Labs (USA) and Bath was followed by her appointment at the University in 2000 as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer (2008) and Professor (2019).

She was awarded the National Teaching Fellowship from Advance HE in 2015. She was Associate Dean (Education) in the Faculty of Science from 2019 – 2023 and Acting Pro-VC (Education) from Aug – Nov 2021. In 2023, she moved to a new role as Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education Quality & Enhancement).


Professor Momna Hejmadi obtained her PhD in Radiation Oncology at BARC, University of Mumbai, on a Department of Atomic Energy fellowship.
