Jane Hallett Deputy Director for Research Performance, Information and Insights
Jane leads professionals across RIS to develop University research performance, information and insights, to inform strategy, decision-making and delivery.
Role
As Deputy Director, Jane provides strategic leadership for:
Management of the University's submissions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) Enhancement of the University's research information systems and internal reporting provision Management of data, evidence and insights to improve research and impact performance and planning external reporting requirements including REF, Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF), and HE Business and Community Interaction (HE-BCI) survey. Monitoring and evaluation of the impact from the University’s research and Knowledge Exchange portfolios
Career
Before joining the University of Bath in September 2025, Jane worked at the University of the West of England, the University of Bristol and Cardiff University in roles leading submissions to REF, research information systems and data, and project management and facilitation. Jane has undertaken three secondments to Research England and its predecessor HEFCE, acting as an expert advisor and supporting the REF Panels.
Education
Jane holds a DPhil in Vision Science from the University of Oxford, a MSc in Knowledge-based Systems from the University of Sussex and a BSc in Natural Sciences from Durham University.
