Esther Reeves Elected by Professional Service Staff

Will undertake the responsibilities of members of governing bodies as set out in the CUC Guide for Members of Higher Education Governing Bodies in the UK.

Career

As a professional services staff member and Widening Participation Outreach Programmes Manager, Esther leads initiatives that support under-represented learners, including those from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnic minorities, care-experienced students, and young carers, helping to raise aspiration and improve access to higher education. She has worked at the university for over a decade in roles spanning placements, DDaT, and outreach, and has contributed to institutional inclusion and compliance initiatives, strengthening her expertise in governance, regulation, and strategic decision-making.

A former Chemistry teacher and Chair of Governors, Esther has over twenty years’ experience across education, including curriculum development, digital programme delivery, and leadership. She is committed to advancing equity, opportunity, and social mobility in education.
