Katrina Kelly Head of Community Engagement

Responsible for developing the University’s community and civic engagement and supporting collaborative work between the University and local organisations.

Role

Katrina Kelly joined the University of Bath in 2011, and become Head of Community Engagement in 2020. She supports the University’s local engagement through the development and leadership of initiatives that help the University engage successfully with its stakeholders within the local community.

Her key areas of focus are:

  • supporting the Chief Marketing Officer in advancing goals identified in the Civic University Agreement
  • developing internal collaboration for the coordination and promotion of locally-focused activity
  • leading the development of Our Shared Future and other initiatives with local authorities
  • systematically gathering information on, supporting the development of, and publishing data on the evidence of the University’s economic, social, environmental, and cultural contribution to the local area

Career

Katrina’s career at the University started in the Press Office, before becoming Head of Research Marketing. She took on her current role in 2020. Immediately before working at the University of Bath, Katrina ran a successful marketing consultancy, working with companies in the technology and education sectors.

Her earlier career was based in PR agencies, with a focus on lifestyle, science, and community engagement campaigns, working with clients including E.On, Boots pharmacies, John Lewis, United Biscuits, Premier Foods, and Energizer.

Education

Katrina holds an MA in International Marketing and Public Relations and a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Applied Ethics from Cardiff University. Katrina was awarded CIPR Young Communicator of the Year in 2006 for her public affairs work carried out on placement during her degree studies.
