Lucy Davies Head of Research Excellence and Impact

Delivering the University’s submission to the Research Excellence Framework and developing a thriving research culture that supports research with impact.

Role

Lucy’s role is to lead on delivery of the University’s ambitious targets for its submission to the 2029 Research Excellence Framework and continue building a thriving research and impact culture that can meet those ambitions. As well as working with academic and professional services colleagues and teams across the University, she also oversees the Research Culture, Research Impact and Impact Acceleration Account teams, within RIS.

Career

Lucy has been working as a research professional for well over a decade. She has worked in a variety of roles, including Research Impact officer, Deputy REF manager, Systems implementation Manager and Product Manager for an impact-related software system. She has moved to Bath from the University of Exeter where she was Research Information Systems and Evaluation Manager and leading on the CKU elements of the REF submission as well as development of the Code of Practice and REF strategy.

Education

Lucy studied for a 4-year Masters Degree in Computational Neuroscience at the University of Manchester (formerly UMIST) and has a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from Plymouth University. She has also done some health services research, including patient data analysis and systematic reviews.
