Role
Nic’s coaching approach is grounded in evidence-based practice and shaped by my extensive leadership experience. I create a safe, supportive space where individuals can explore challenges, build insight, and gain clarity of purpose. I am particularly passionate about helping people navigate change, strengthen resilience, and achieve meaningful personal and professional growth.

Nic has a Masters degree in Counselling, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Human Studies, and a BA (Hons) degree in Peace Studies (Conflict Resolution). Nic trained as a Cognitive Analytical Therapist and transitioned to coaching through his training with the Yorkshire Accord scheme. Nic provided coaching across the Yorkshire region for five years and is now undertaking a Level 7 Executive Coaching qualification through the University of the West of England. Nic uses evidence based approaches and techniques to create a safe, supportive environment in which individuals can explore challenges, gain insight, clarify their purpose, and make positive, meaningful changes.

Career
Nic is a senior leader in higher education with twenty-four years’ experience across eight universities, currently serving as Director of Student Support and Safeguarding at the University of Bath. He leads a wide range of student services teams, with a focus on delivering a clear strategic vision for student wellbeing and ensuring inclusive, high-quality support for a diverse student community.
Nic has significant expertise in student mental health, safeguarding, and organisational development, contributing to various national guidance, publications, and sector initiatives. Nic was Vice Chair (Professional Development) of AMOSSHE the Student Support Organisation for seven years and is one of the original University Mental Health Charter assessors.
Nic brings strong expertise in change management, risk management, and organisational development, as well as experience in the private sector as a former Operations Director. His work is underpinned by a commitment to enabling individuals and organisations to thrive through thoughtful, values-led development.
