Rachel Applegate SWC Learning Technologist in the Centre for Learning and Teaching
Staff Wellbeing Champion
I am a Learning Technologist in the Centre for Learning and Teaching and have worked at the University since 2007.
We need to challenge stigma and create an environment where we can talk about mental health and wellbeing without fear of judgement, to support wellbeing and resilience at work. I can provide a listening ear and signpost support.
I have worked through challenging times − including workplace restructure, work-related stress, ill health and bereavements. I used University services including EAP and Staff Coaching to help navigate these challenges. I am co-facilitator of No Kidding, an informal support network for staff who are childless not by choice.
I enjoy walking, yoga and silk painting. I practice mindfulness meditation. While it's not for everyone, I find it helps me to stay balanced. At home I enjoy the company of my cat, cooking and time in the garden.
