Clarissa Bell Legal Advisor
Providing high-level legal advice for research and commercialisation contracts, with particular emphasis on strategic initiatives.
Role
Clarissa is responsible for:
- providing high-level legal advice on research and commercialisation matters to University researchers, RIS colleagues and University senior management
- leading on legal matters relating to strategic initiatives of RIS
- advising on arrangements for commercialisation of University IP, such as commercial licences with third parties and spin-outs
Clarissa works closely with the Head of Pre-Award and Contracts, the Senior Contracts Manager, and the Research Impact and Commercialisation team.
Career
After completing her degree, Clarissa worked in an advertising agency in London’s West-End, before deciding to become a solicitor. She attended the College of Law, London, completed her solicitor’s training contract at a law firm in Bristol and qualified as a solicitor in 2002. She continued at the Bristol firm, specialising in Corporate and Commercial work, before joining the University in 2005.
Education
Clarissa qualified as a solicitor in 2002. She also has a degree in Music from Durham University.
