Ruth Bowness SWC Mathematical Sciences Lecturer
Staff Wellbeing Champion
Role
I am a lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. My research focuses on developing within-host multiscale models of infectious diseases. My goals are to aid understanding of how our bodies deal with infections and use computational simulations to hypothesise improved treatment strategies. I am also part of the Department Equality Diversity Committee.
Wellbeing Statement
I want to be part of a positive working environment, with wellbeing integrated into work practices. By being part of the wellbeing network, I hope to promote this agenda and help to change how we all think and act about mental health.
Interests
I work part-time, balancing my job with spending time with my family (I have 4 young children). I also enjoy running, yoga and baking.
