Mr Jim Sherwin Member of the Investment Sub-Committee

The Investment Sub-Committee provides assurance to Finance Committee on the management of the University’s investments.

Career

Jim Sherwin is a Director of Hunter Douglas N.V., a Dutch multinational, and of Tempo Global Resources LLC, a US metals trading company, and he manages a hedge fund through his investment management company, 80Plus Partners LLP.

Jim was a member of the University Council from 2001 to 2007 and has since advised the University on its investments. He has been a member of the Council of Management of Bath Institute of Rheumatic Diseases since 2009 and is the Chair of their Finance Group.

He was the Chief Financial Officer of Hunter Douglas (1991-2000), Triangle Industries (1983-1984) and GAF Corporation (1973-1983 and 1985-1990) and has substantial experience in corporate finance, portfolio and pension plan management, foreign exchange and metals trading.

Jim is a graduate of Columbia College (BA) and Law School (J.D.). He practiced law for ten years in New York and is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a Lt. Cmdr. (ret.) in the US Coast Guard Reserve. Jim is an International Chess Master and a member of the US Chess Hall of Fame.

He is married to Hiroko Sherwin, a writer and painter. They live in Winsley and have six daughters and seven grandchildren.
