Stephen Wedge Nanofabrication Support Specialist
Stephen looks after the David Bullett Nanofabrication Facility.
Role
Stephen is responsible for:
- maintaining and repairing equipment
- providing equipment and lab training to users
- sample processing for commercial customers
- liaising with external contractors and Campus Infrastructure for carrying out work in the facility
Career
Stephen has had his current job since 2011. Before that, he had numerous jobs, including:
- civil servant
- hydrographic surveyor
- post-doctoral researcher
- assistant restaurant manager
- bicycle salesman
- chef
- accounts assistant
Education
Stephen has a BSc and PhD in Physics, both from the University of Exeter. He also holds:
- a Certificate in Hydrographic Survey from the Universiti Teknology Malaysia
- City and Guilds 706/1 & 706/2
- the Association of Accounting Technicians’ Certificate in Accounting
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- IOSH Managing Safety
Stephen is also a Marine Risk Assessor.
