Ashutosh joined the Research Software Engineering team in June 2026 as an HPC specialist with expertise developing high performance, scalable, and sustainable scientific software.
Ashutosh can help researchers develop and optimise their code for HPC systems, and provide training and technical guidance on parallel programming and research software development.

Modernising legacy scientific applications for heterogeneous CPU-GPU architectures using programming models and libraries such as OpenMP, CUDA, HIP, SYCL, and Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) such as the Oxford Parallel library for Structured mesh solvers (OPS-DSL).
Accelerating large-scale Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS), and seismic modelling applications on supercomputing platforms.

Career
Ashutosh has more than 12 years of experience in HPC, scientific software development, and parallel programming across academia and industry.
Prior to joining the University, he was a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast and the University of Warwick, where he contributed to EPSRC-funded research on performance-portable software for next-generation HPC systems. His research included developing GPU-enabled code generation techniques for OPS-DSL and accelerating large-scale CFD and DNS applications on leading European supercomputers.
Ashutosh previously held HPC software engineering roles at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), where he worked on performance analysis, compiler benchmarking, scientific application optimisation, HPC simulation, and GPU acceleration for large-scale scientific workloads.

Ashutosh holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Computing (PG-DAC), Sunbeam Institute of Information Technology (2013) and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Engineering, University of Pune (2012).
