Melanie Torrance SWC School of Management Projects and Facilities Officer
Staff Wellbeing Champion
I have worked at the University for 10 years, and in the School of Management as a Project and Facilities Management officer for 8 years. I work in the Dean’s Office and support the School’s Professional Services Staff and Academics. I am also the School’s Health and Safety Coordinator.
I feel it’s important to raise awareness of mental health issues and to break the stigma around poor mental health. I want to help create a culture where we can speak about mental health problems in the same way as we would physical health and where all staff have access to the wellbeing services they need. I am passionate about helping women navigate the menopause and help to run the staff Menopause Support Network.
During the pandemic I started making abstract art and I am also a keen creative sewer. I love reading books about nature and listening to audiobooks and podcasts.
